2020.10.27 23:41 Arizona-Cardinals NOTES FROM THE CARDINALS 37-34 OT WIN VS. SEATTLE (10/25/20)

The Cardinals defeated the previously unbeaten Seattle Seahawks 37-34 in overtime at State Farm Stadium on Sunday Night Football.
With the victory, the Cardinals improved to 5-2 in 2020 and matched their win total from all of last season. It marks just the third time since 1988 (6-1 in 2014; 5-2 in 2015) Arizona has at least five wins in the first seven games of a season. • The win over Seattle on Sunday Night Football was the Cardinals 14th primetime victory dating back to 2008. In 38 seasons between 1970-2007, the Cardinals had 10 total primetime wins. Arizona is 2-0 in primetime this season with victories over Dallas on Monday Night Football (Week 6) and vs. Seattle on Sunday Night Football.
The 2020 season marks the first time in franchise history the Cardinals have won on Monday Night Football and Sunday Night Football in consecutive weeks. The Cardinals trailed by 10 points with under three minutes left in regulation on Sunday. Prior to Arizona’s comeback win over the Seahawks, NFL teams trailing by 10+ points with under three minutes left in regulation had lost 255 straight games. • Arizona has now won primetime games in consecutive weeks for just the fourth time in franchise history – and for the first time since 2016 (Week 5 @ SF on TNF; Week 6 vs. NYJ on MNF).
• With the victory, the Cardinals snapped a seven-game winless streak at home against the Seahawks and earned their first win over Seattle at State Farm Stadium since 2012.
Arizona handed the Seahawks just their eighth loss in 40 primetime games under Pete Carroll. Seattle entered Sunday’s game with a 31-7-1 record in primetime games and their .808 winning percentage was the best in the NFL. • Dating back to Week 5 of the 2019 season, Seattle is 0-2 against the Cardinals and 13-3 against the rest of the NFL.

A RARE COME-FROM BEHIND VICTORY OVER WILSON AND THE SEAHAWKS

• Seattle entered Sunday’s game with a 30-0 record when leading by 10+ points at halftime in the regular season since Russell Wilson took over as the starter in 2012. Arizona handed Wilson and the Seahawks their first loss in such a game.
• Cardinals QB Kyler Murray now joins Tom Brady as the only QBs to throw 3+ TD passes and overcome a 4th quarter deficit of 10+ points against Wilson. Brady accomplished the feat in Super Bowl XLIX at State Farm Stadium. • Sunday’s game marked just the fourth time in Wilson’s 134 career starts that he threw at least three INTs in a game. Arizona became the first team to record at least three INTs off Wilson since the Jaguars had three on 12/10/17 in Jacksonville.
• Wilson entered Sunday’s game having thrown just three INTs on 169 pass attempts this season.
• In his first 8 career games against the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium, Wilson threw 12 TDs and just 1 INT on 245 pass attempts. He hadn’t thrown an INT against the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium since his rookie season in 2012 – the first game of his NFL career.
Wilson had attempted 251 consecutive pass attempts without an INT against the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium before he was picked off by Budda Baker in the second quarter on Sunday. He threw 3 INTs in his final 33 pass attempts on Sunday.

CARDINALS HAND DIVISION-LEADING SEAHAWKS FIRST LOSS OF 2020

With the victory over Seattle, the Cardinals improved to 5-2 heading into their bye week. That includes a 2-0 record in divisional matchups, and leaves Arizona just a half-game back of Seattle in the NFC West. The Cardinals have started a season 2-0 in the division for the first time since 2014.

• 8th in the NFL in sacks allowed (9)
• t-5th in the NFL in total QB pressures (37)

• WR DeAndre Hopkins caught 10 passes for 103 yards and a TD in the Cardinals victory over the Seahawks on Sunday. It was his fourth game with 100+ receiving yards in 2020 and his third game with 10+ receptions. Through seven games, Hopkins now has 57 receptions for 704 yards and three TDs. He leads the NFL in receptions, receiving yards and first down receptions in 2020.
• Hopkins is currently on pace for 130 receptions and 1,609 receiving yards in 2020. Both of those totals would represent franchise single-season records. They would also represent career highs for the three-time 1st-team All-Pro. His current career highs for both receptions (115) and receiving yards (1,572) came in 2018.

• After recording six total TD receptions in his first 27 career games, Kirk now has five TD catches in his last four games this season.

BACK-TO-BACK GAMES WITH A PICK FOR BUDDA

• S Budda Baker posted a game-high 14 tackles, his second INT of the season, a tackle for loss and a pass defensed in the win over Seattle on Sunday. It was a fitting end to a remarkable six-day stretch on the national stage in which the All-Pro was named a team captain, totaled 21 tackles, 2 INTs (one returned 90 yards), 1.0 sack, 2 passes defensed, 2 tackles for loss, 2 QB hits, a forced fumble and an NFC “Defensive Player of the Week” Award (Week 6).
After going without an INT in his first 50 career games, Baker now has an INT in each of the last two games. He tallied his first career INT off Cowboys QB Andy Dalton on Monday Night Football in Week 6. Prior to the last two-game stretch, the last time Baker had an INT in consecutive games was in his sophomore year at the University of Washington in 2015 when he had an INT at Stanford (10/24) and vs. Arizona (10/31).
• Despite playing the last three games with a cast on his thumb from a surgery that forced him to miss a game, Baker has registered 59 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 2 INTs, 3 passes defensed and a forced fumble in 2020. His 59 tackles are tied for the team lead (Jordan Hicks), as are his 2 INTs (Patrick Peterson). • Baker’s 59 tackles lead all NFL DBs in 2020, despite him having played fewer games than any other player in the top-5 on the list.

REDDICK SETS NEW CAREER HIGH WITH 5.0 SACKS IN 2020

• Fourth-year LB Haason Reddick continued his breakout performance this season with one of the most productive games of his career in the victory over Seattle on Sunday. He finished with 11 tackles, a sack, 3 tackles for loss and 3 QB hits – with his 3 QB hits and 3 tackles for loss setting career highs for a single game.
• Reddick came up with a big sack on the Seahawks opening possession of the OT period, taking down Russell Wilson for a six-yard loss. He now has 5.0 sacks in 2020, a new career high. All 5.0 sacks have come in the last six games, including 3.0 in the last two games.
• Reddick now joins Chandler Jones and Terrell Suggs as the only Cardinals defenders in the last three seasons (2018-20) to post at least 5.0 sacks in a season.

FIRST ROUND PICK MAKES PLAY OF THE GAME IN CARDINALS WIN

• Rookie LB Isaiah Simmons – the #8 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Clemson – only played five defensive snaps on Sunday but that’s all it took for him to come up with the play that led to the Cardinals game-winning FG in OT. With Arizona having just missed a potential game-winning FG, Seattle took over on the ensuing possession and with just over a minute remaining in OT they faced a 3rd-n-14 at their own 48-yard line. Russell Wilson attempted a pass over the middle to Tyler Lockett that Simmons intercepted and returned 12 yards to the SEA 49-yard line. Six plays later – with just 0:15 remaining – the Cardinals kicked the game-winning 48-yard FG.

EDMONDS COMES UP BIG FOR CARDINALS IN COMEBACK

• RB Chase Edmonds finished Sunday’s game with 145 scrimmage yards (87 receiving; 58 rushing) on 12 total touches. He established career highs for receptions (7) and receiving yards (87) in the Cardinals victory. Of his 145 total yards on Sunday, 124 came in the second half/OT. • In the second half/OT, Edmonds had 10 total touches (5 rush; 5 reception) and 124 yards (66 receiving; 58 rushing). Of those 10 touches, seven went for first downs and six covered at least 10 yards. He had receptions of 21, 18, 13 and 11 yards and runs of 12 and 32 yards.

ZANE KICKS CARDS INTO OT AND ALSO KICKS GAME-WINNER

• K Zane Gonzalez made 3-of-4 FG attempts in Sunday’s win over the Seahawks, including a 44-yarder as time expired in regulation to send the game into OT and a 48-yarder to win it in OT.
• Gonzalez’s 48-yard FG in OT was the third game-winning kick of his career and the first to come in OT. He had game-winners at Green Bay in 2018 and in Cincinnati in 2019.

2020.10.27 22:21 upthecreekwthnocanoe I’m moving in to my partner of 4+ years flat. Can anyone give advice re a will in current times?

Hi everyone,
I need advice please, in regards to my living situation and the uncertainty caused by covid and potential death, and how I will be impacted if something happened to my partner. Sounds dramatic, I know, but I’m someone who prepares for the worst, but always hopes for the best, and there are other parties to consider which increase my anxiety. This isn’t a crippling mental health issue, to be clear, but my trying to be pragmatic with my affairs.
Apologies in advance for the length and any advice or insight is appreciated!
I’ve known my partner for five and half years. We started dating just under five years ago, and have been officially together for over four. We’ve lived together for almost four years (quite quick but when you know you know!).
I have financially given more during our relationship to arguably my detriment. That isn’t a complaint, but a simple acknowledgment. My partner is by no means financially abusive, he just hasn’t always clocked on e.g. how I ended up paying for “proper shops” which quickly stacked up, and him paying for our dinner out did not, as he thought, equal out the costs. I wouldn’t have quibbled over a few quid, but it did come to a head at one point and we went through all our statements and there was a large discrepancy.
Previously, my partner had a larger income but always spent it, whilst I more than covered my share (from a lower income) of our costs whilst popping £300 a month away for my share of a house deposit (so, living on substantially less). For instance, I would buy 241 microwave meals that equates to £2 each for my work lunch, or take packed lunch... whilst he would go to M&S or Pret spending up to £10 a day. Separate finances, and if he wants to spend all his money on overpriced sandwiches, that was up to him.
After that, and combined with a flat move, we opened a joint bank account and contributed to it based upon a percentage of our earnings. We were both happy with this, it made everything expenses wise much easier plus we used our joint cards for our fun stuff together too.
We moved flat for my partners benefit due to his new work location, and to be clear I was happy to do this. However, our living costs rose by a third overnight, and this took away my ability to save anymore. My savings account was almost wiped out by paying 50% of the furnishing costs of our unfurnished flat (I also really did not want to buy all the arguably expensive furniture!). Now, my partner didn’t see this as an issue, bc he owns a flat in a commuter town so doesn’t see the need to save for a deposit (due to 2x inheritance), still has savings left and he saw the furniture as an investment for our future home.
Now, in an ideal world, all the above is absolutely fine, we’re in a happy stable relationship. Due to covid, and how we are essentially wasting money on rent when we aren’t required to live in London anymore, we are moving into the partner owned flat. We won’t have to pay rent, will actually have some disposable income for the first time in years (yay!! Especially for me!) and can put money aside for a larger house deposit. We’ll contribute to the house deposit and our joint account still based upon percentages. We’ll also have a dependent in the form of a furry friend.
Now, we reach the issue. To be quite frank, had I not been in this relationship, I would have been better off financially due to living differently in several ways. I am aware that say, we broke up tomorrow, I would be f’ed with nothing to show for the last five years. That wouldn’t be great. But the real issue is my partners father. He has been every bit hostile, rude, insulting and offensive our entire relationship. Amongst the infuriating things he has done and said, he has commented on a million occasions that I am with my partner for his money (I’m working class, he’s middle). Now, I hope it’s clear from the above how off base that is. But despite being told clearly by my bf, FIL has not refrained from spreading that smear around.
When we moved into our expensive rented place, I asked my partner to sort out a will that would guarantee his share would be covered for the rest of the tenancy (I wouldn’t be able to cover 50%, nor 100% short term, our joint account doesn’t have a buffer). He always responded with “oh my dad would take care of you” - even though I had every reason to believe he wouldn’t. It all came to a head when we found out through friends FIL had been very publicly sharing private info about me and my family with people outside the family, including the smears and it was actually open malicious gossip and has been for our whole relationship. As part of the confrontation, he made his feelings about me very clear and I have absolutely zero doubt that should anything happen to my partner covid wise I will not be allowed to see or speak to him, and also I would be out on my ear. Me and my partner discussed wills (he knows my wishes and I’d want my meagre savings to go to my brother as he is more in need) and he is already my beneficiary for my more substantial employer death in service payment and pension should anything happen to me. My brother and him are down as my next of kins so he wouldn’t be kept from me in any way. He said he would sort a will to make sure I was protected, but it hasn’t happened as yet. At this point, I wouldn’t even be allowed to attend his funeral. I don’t have exact proof of how we paid for everything. To be clear, FIL would do everything in his power to make my life harder than it would even be in that situation. I’m not listed as next of kin or a beneficiary, we aren’t planning to start a family for a year so no kids just yet!
My friend brought this up when we saw her not so long ago, as she was updating her will. My partner said he’d want everything to go to me (he’s worth approx £200k inc the flat), his family definitely don’t need it and he knows I’d give money to his niece and nephews, and a charity of his choosing etc. But... he should really get all this is writing. Considering the whole covid and getting pregnant thing, surely this would be pragmatic to sort now?
Can I bring this up again, and what would be fair to ask foexpect given all the above and the investment I’ve made in this relationship?
Personally, I would like to know I have a year in the flat (rent free) if anything happened, which would allow me time to save up for hopefully a very small place of my own and the expenses. I’m not massively fussed about the rest or making demands altho I would sign everything to him if it were the other way round. If I’m pregnant tho, then I feel that would change things and we would have a right to a roof over our heads. No - even pregnant I wouldn’t trust FIL to kick me out and pray for a miscarriage.
Has anyone faced this before or can offer some guidance? Thank you in advance and thanks for reading if you got to the end!

2020.10.27 21:43 SpiritBombYourMom AITA inquiring about family plan car insurance

My girlfriend and I are 27, and have been dating for 4.5 years. Lived together for 4 years and and share every household expense.
We share a vehicle. The vehicle belongs to GF. I paid half the value of the vehicle to her to even things out.
My GF has had issues detaching from her parents, and lived with them until she was 23. It's been a moderate struggle over the years trying to encourage her to think for herself, stand up to her parents, etc.
Her parents are catholic and it took them 4 years to allow me to share a room with my long term GF under their roof, like while camping at their cabin, etc. We even had to be hush hush about our living arrangements and lifestyle at holidays, etc, so as not to 'offend' grandparents, and still do. This contributed to me fostering a sort of 'outsider' feeling over time when it comes to her family.
I am organized about personal finance, I graph and chart everything.
My GF is on her father's family plan for car insurance, and that is an expense that we have agreed is 50% my responsibility, like everything else.
Today I asked her for details on the car insurance rate, term, everything, as we have agreed this is an expense of mine and I am half responsible.
She did not have any information. She just pays her father, who IS a trustworthy man. That's still an issue for me, and she was VERY resistant to the idea of getting the information for me, so that I could budget, plan, compare rates, etc. She was saying that it's THEIR personal info, she can't just share that with me willy nilly, so that's why she was resisting. I argued that it's a family plan that I am purchasing, and I deserve detailed information on the product.
I feel that we aren't 19 anymore, and these things should be between her and I alone, and it would be good for us to slowly move towards a more adult+adult situation, separating certain things from her parents.
We got into a fight about it, and it got moderately heated. And if that is a huge issue for her, I was comfortable looking at getting insurance for us two together, instead of their family plan. And if she INSISTS on staying on the family plan, that is A-ok, but i'm going to need detailed information on the plan.
She got very agitated and resistant even though I was keeping my tone calm at most times and trying to rephrase at times to explain how important personal finance and accountability is to me. It remains unresolved, and she sort of cut the argument off.
This is an issue for me because i've been working for 4 years to create some healthy distance and boundaries between our life and her parents, by talking things out with her. Much of that was at her request, because I'm assertive and independent, and can share some of that know-how with her.
I have a hard time accepting that a 27 year old in a long term relationship should be ceding financial responsibility to a parent when there's zero hardship, and I also want to be included and I want that information. But now we're fighting.
AITA?

2020.10.27 21:41 WinesburgOhio Profiles for players whose pro careers started before 1960

I've been meaning to put all of the "early" player profiles into one list for a while now, so I finally did that. I broke them into time periods based on a few specific markers: 1) the creation of the BAA whose first season was 1946-47, 2) end of the 40's, 3) the advent of the shot clock which debuted in 1954-55, 4) the arrival of Bill Russell in 1956-57 since this marked a huge uptick in the value of athleticism, and 5) end of the 50's. I placed players based on their first season of professional basketball, which meant a few guys might have moved to one side or another of a cut-off for sorta bizarre reasons; the perfect case in point is Adrian Smith who graduated and was drafted in 1958, but he played for 2 years with the Army and 1 year in AAU before joining the NBA in 1961. My only exception was Don Barksdale who had to play AAU for a few years between UCLA and the NBA due to segregation.

2020.10.27 21:25 Turtlerburglar First time seeing/talking to/meeting ex since the breakup

It's been a little over a month. I'm 28, she's 29 and it was because she didn't see a future for us romantically after 2 years together. It was hard, but we talked, hugged, cried, and kept it civil. We still cared and loved each other, but it just wouldn't work. She said she still wanted to be friends.
We haven't spoken since then, and still have each other on all the social media's (tho I deleted my snapchat from my phone so i wouldn't see her stories). I tried my best not to think about her and the relationship and not to facebook-stalk. I would occasionally masturbate thinking about times we've had sex together, but that's healthy. I've only been with/wanted her the past 2 years anyway.
I talked to friends/family and jumped head-first into the dating app world. Am I 100% ready? No. But it helps me to realize there ARE other people besides her.
I went on this one date that I was very hopeful about, but it didn't work out (i'll probably write about it in another post). One of the hardest things was, the route to get to the dates house was the same i took to see my ex. It was soooo hard!
After the bad date, I felt really down and pulled over into a parking lot. I needed a friend to talk to. I was 5ish minutes from my ex's house and said, fuck it. I'd never come up this way any other time and I'm already here. She said she still wanted to be friends, well she can put her money where her mouth is.
I called her, asked if it was okay that I'm talking to her, she said, yeah, we're friends right? Asked if she was home and if I could come over and talk to her and she said yes.
10 minutes and a few hugs&tears later we're talking like we never broke up. We filled in each other about our lives, dating, all that.
She was happy for me that I was getting myself out there. I said, you'll always be in my heart, but i just needed to get you off my mind. She told me how she was talking to this one guy, but didn't think it would turn into something serious. I said how i've been talking and a little dating, but not much either.
I've been working out and got a haircut and she noticed. Over the 5 hours we spent talking in her room,(her on her bed, me on the floor right next to her) she would say how handsome and cute I am and mess with my hair.
I still wanted her, physically. I wanted her as a friend. We both said we still wanted each other in our lives. I accept we'd never date, but fuck, I still wanted her. I asked her, honestly, if through all the ups and downs, was at least the sex good? She laughed and said it was great. My head game was top notch.
I honestly only came over to talk to her as a friend. I said to her, i'll only bring this up once. would you like to be fwb? She said it was tempting, but maybe not since she's talking to this other guy. I said okay, accepted it, we both laughed. If i didn't ask, I'd be wondering all night.
It was starting to get late and I had to be up early for work. She really didn't want me to go. I stood up and leaned against her bed frame and she stood in front of me, not even a foot away. We talked about working out, and she talked about how she wondered if she could get a bigger butt. She turned and showed me, and was looking at me. I went to reach out my hand, but stopped. I wanted to respect what she said earlier when I asked about fwb.
She said she'd like to lose a little bit of weight and I joked her breasts alone probably weighed 50 pounds. She laughed and asked how she could weight them. She asked if I wanted to weigh them. I reached out, grabbed and gave a little squeeze, and said, yup they're pretty heavy!
And we're still standing there. She's calling me cute and still messing with my hair and running her hands up my chest. I've barely touched her this whole night. And then she just stops talking and we're staring at each other and she's smiling at me. And I keep breaking to look the other way. But i look back and there she is.
If this was when we were still together, i'd have been all over her by now. But I had just asked her if she wanted to be fwb and she said no! And i wanted to respect her boundaries!
She breaks my thoughts saying, "you know this is a test, right?" still with that seductive look on her face.I get closer, she starts nodding, i get inches from her mouth and ask if this is okay, she said yes.
And we made out passionately, only stopping to get air and to look into each other's eyes. After a few rounds I started to grab her ass.
We stopped and she sighed, saying she wishes i could stay but I need to go home to get sleep before work. I was like idc and kept looking over at her bed. She laughed and said nooooo you need to go home.
She walked me out and we hugged. I texted her the next day saying how i had a day off and if i could come over the night before. She said she wished but she was out taking care of a relative. I sent another text asking about a couple days later that I have off and haven't gotten a reply yet.
Do you think if i didn't have to go, we'd have had sex that night? She must've not been THAT into that guy if she let me catch a feel and make out? Or just mind games to see that i still find her hot?
I'd love to be fwb as i get my head together before my next actual relationship. But if we stay just friends, i'd be perfectly fine too. That night was exactly what i needed.

2020.10.27 21:11 Spyvxm Is this more than a friendship to them?

I felt like given the age gap and relationship type I could get better advice here than on the relationship sub. Luke is in his 50s and I am early 20s.
About 3 years ago I worked for a summer at a coffee shop as a barista/cashier. I was single at the time (I have a boyfriend now) and there were lots of older men who showed interest in me.
Since I wasn’t with my boyfriend when I started working there I enjoyed the attention and actually befriended a few of them. I have always been attracted to older guys. One of those guys I befriended was Luke.
Not to get into detail but on my very first day of work my manager emphasized on how important is to look interested in customers and that includes asking about their day, what they’re eating or reading etc. Luke was reading a book and I asked him about it. He is a very religious man and I am more of a spiritual person but we do share the same faith and that is what the book was about. We talked about it and found how we have so many things in common. He said once he was done with the book he would bring it to me.
I was not in love with him but he really made an impression on me. He’s not good looking or anything but I was attracted. I don’t know how to explain it. Maybe it was the fact that he was always sweet and polite to me. Our daily interactions at work were something I looked forward too.
I started formally dating my boyfriend too but Luke didn’t know since we never talked about those things. I still enjoyed conversation with him. A month and a half later he showed up with the book he was reading on the first day we met and gave it to me. I said I would give him something back. He said no but I offered him a pound of his favorite coffee. We agree to met after my shift to give it to him so we exchanged numbers.
I texted him (he gave me his number) and he didn’t respond until I was on the train home. He apologized a lot for not seeing my text since he was at work but we agreed to meet the next day. I texted him when I was outside of his building and he came outside so I gave him the coffee. He asked me If i would like to have lunch with him but I rejected.
Long story short once again , I ended up moving to another state with my boyfriend but we kept in touch and he actually went to say goodbye on my last day at work.
We continue texting from time to time. We talk about our faith and he’s shared very personal stuff with me and I have done so too. Last year he probably texted he first like 3 times and I texted him a couple times too. We talk every couple months or so but we keep talking.
Okay this is where it gets interesting. It wasn’t until a few months ago he mentioned he was married and had a daughter. Since I live with my boyfriend and He knows it I didn’t care because he is someone I deeply care about and has given me very good advice. We are still friends no matter what.
So I don’t know why he never mentioned he was married before or if he even liked me at one point. I am planning to go visit my friends and family to the city where he lives and I would really love to see him but I don’t know if it’s awkward to ask but then again we have shared a lot on text?
Am I crazy? He never felt anything for me? He is a really good friend and I love my boyfriend dearly but it feels kinda weird to talk to a married man who never told me he was married until a couple months ago but we’re also good friends? is this weird? should I cut him off completely?

2020.10.27 21:04 ishmeetpanesar How do I (24 M) choose between two girls (23 F and 20 F) that I like?

I'll be referring to them as Girl A and B respectively. I've been using this dating app and I got several matches, but nothing really happened until these 2 ladies started talking to me, I was wondering if I could get some advice on what to do.
Girl A: She liked me first, I liked back, we talked for a bit. I found out that we may not like the same things (this isn't on every subject but some), but our values is what we both agree on the most, and what we want. Eventually, we set a time and we meet up for movies at her place, but it turns frisky to say the least. It wasn't my intention but it happened, at some point we're talking about all the things both of us want in a relationship, past relationships etc. The date ends with us talking about meeting for a second time. The only major con about her is that she lives far away, about 1 hour and 50 mins from me.
Girl B: I liked her initially, she liked me back and we started talking. I found out we like the same music, movies and other things like that. I haven't been able to get a date with her, however I have more subjects in common with Girl B than Girl A. Girl B also lives closer to me than Girl A (About 1 hour).
I like Girl A because we had a good time, spending 3 hours talking about anything and everything. However, Girl B, likes some of the same things that I like (music being the big one, along with movies and shows). I've started to develop feelings for Girl A but I'm not sure whether its because I got frisky or that we talked so openly about everything. I don't know whether I should stick with Girl A or should I try to get a date with Girl B.
I'm sorry if I'm not specific enough or need to clarify anything, I'm not the best at putting my feelings into words. I will gladly clarify or provide more information!

2020.10.27 20:35 InspiredOni DC's Batgirl/Barbra Gordon Problem

Three Jokers released its final issue today, and with that I believe DC has shipped or suggested a ship with Barbra Gordon and every (legally of age) male combat member of the Bat family.
And that really needs to stop.
Female superheroes, or characters in general, can have love interests of their own or be a love interest to a main character, all of that is fine.
Finding a way to basically pass around a single character to each male character of a cast across different universes/narratives is a bit nasty. No, it's actually completely nasty.
Why do Barbra and Jason have to have even a hint of a thing between them? Why does the Arkham universe have her with Tim? What is Bruce Timm's deal with shipping her with Batman? I think even Luke Fox had a relationship with her in the main books.
I'm not saying she should only date Dick (especially since DC is divided as to whether Kori or her are his ultimate soul mate or whatever), but I recall she had an unrelated to the others cop boyfriend ages ago. Why not just let her have a love interest of her own?
Is it a Steve Trevor thing? Or alternatively the "Tuxedo Mask (as some see it) is a loser" mentality? The "no normal guy is worth her time", "cuck" and other internet popular ideas that if a perfectly fine normally guy is with a above-average or super woman, there's something wrong with that picture? Well, I claim the internet takes this stance, unless it's Saber or some girl from the Fate franchise (but there they can have bullshit command seal doujins and I'll go no further than that), so clearly plenty of people are okay with an otherwise capable guy being the arm candy to a female lead.
I feel like if another fandom might have noticed this more clearly and protested loudly if it happened, especially if they're heavily attached to one ship or another, but Batman readers seem to just quietly accept that Barbra is just to be traded across universes as someone's love interest or fling.
Like seriously, it's not even like she's the sole (straight) female in the cave. Cassandra's been around, Stephanie...well she's always just with Tim, when that changes maybe then people will bitch. Katanna kinda counts, Huntress definitely counts, Flamebird is sometimes remembered so she counts. So why the need to ship all the guys with Barbra at least once?
Should we be worried that season 3 of Harley Quinn will have Damien get a crush on Barbra? Because it's probably going to happen somewhere at some point, and it's stupid that such a thing is conceivable.
Wonder Woman had a bit of this problem before, with the aforementioned Steve Trevor. Growing in with the Post-Crisis stuff, I don't recall Steve even being a thing for that continuity. Nemesis was the closest she got to a boyfriend similar to him, but the Nu52 was what brought him back (one of the few good things I'll admit about the Nu52). Otherwise Diana is either being shipped with Batman, Superman, Aquaman even (the whole shared worshiped pantheon bit helped I guess), and similar. Sure, during this period she also got not league love interests in her own book, which is great, but none that really seem to be mentioned to the extend that Lois or Lana are for Clark or Selina and...Talia are for Bruce.
DC's is just rather weird about their main Batgirl, and it can get kinda gross. Sure, she isn't dating or sleeping with all of them in one solid timeline, but the fact that the company keeps selling works that feature her with a different member of the cave while they can have separate love interests of their own just feels wrong.
At the very least they could stop having her hook up with her dad's friend, that feels like the plot of a summer murder mystery or horror, not a Batman story.
EDIT: Bleeding Cool’s article highlights the recent shared attraction Jason had with Babs.

2020.10.27 20:08 vcwarrior55 Bit of a vent/rant

I'm sick and tired of Christians in couples (especially young married or dating couples) saying to be "satisfied with being single" when they make it extremely difficult to be. This seems to be the only thing any couple mentions when you talk about being single and longing for a relationship. Yes, you should wait on God's timing, but that doesn't mean it's that simple or easy. All of the young adult Bible studies I'm in, I am one of between 2 and 4 single people in the group. Everyone else are dating or in serious relationships. This usually results in all topics and discussions always leading to couples discussion topics. Young couples will also just tell you that now is the time to hang out with and make friends. But then they always cancel plans, miss group events unless other couples are involved, and never make time for the singles in the group so that we can actually possibly be okay with this time in our lives. I get that you get more busy when you're in a relationship, but young christian couples seem to actively avoid any hang outs that dont have a majority of other couples. It just gets hard when no one ever is able to hang out, you are working 50 to 60 hours a week with no relational contacts. Combine that with having some medical issues and no one to come home to, no one to comfort when finding out if I may have cancer, no one to cheer with when something goes right, "just be satisfied being single" just feels like a knife to the gut. It also seems to just show that when young Christians get married or into relationships, they forget all the hardships of single life. Meanwhile us from the outside are just like "be content being single? You had a tinder account for 2 years straight before you started dating your now wife". Most of the couples saying that were the most discontent singles. Rant over lol

2020.10.27 19:10 piano09player I’m convinced I’ll never find a partner...

Before anyone says I’m being dramatic, or attention seeking... I truly feel this way. I am feeling so discouraged and hopeless these days. I’m a 23F and I haven’t so much as been on a date. I am shy, so I know that can add to it but I have really been trying to put myself out there. I’ve tried multiple dating apps as well, and I use two pretty regularly. I am not the most confident but from what I hear from others I don’t think I’m unattractive. I’m apparently pretty decent looking. I’m a liberal living in a more conservative state which makes it harder for sure, but even still I feel like in my 23 years I should have had some experience. I know it’s not impossible to be someone who doesn’t date. I always hear “shut up, nobody goes their whole life without dating”, but I know multiple women who are in their 50s and haven’t been with someone seriously. I’m just scared that will be me. Advice?

2020.10.27 18:33 GynaTheGynoidOFCI SMG4 AU/Side-Canon: SMG3’s 8 Part 1 Act 3

Act 3: Dating Simulation. ————————
Mushroom Kingdom, Night. Cargobay
Rabbit, the rabbit looking thief, enters a warehouse. There stands SMG3 with his arms crosses. Namai is leaning on a crate, while Melony sits on top of it.
SMG3: Did you get them?
Rabbit search for something in his bag, he pulled up a laptop, then Kamek’s wand and lastly, two MAC 10. SMG3 smiles evilly.
SMG3: Nice job, here’s your reward.
SMG3 threw a carrot to Nabbit
Nabbit: Oh my GOD!
Rabbit started to snort the carrot and ran off like a crazy homeless person. Namai and Melony went to SMG3 who was booting up the laptop. Melony got it and started to hack the password. Namai took up the guns and smiled smug. She aimed them everywhere like they where Splat Duelies. She put them in pocket space and asked SMG3 a question
Namai: So why are we stealing a laptop and a wand?
SMG3: Well, you see:
SMG3 pulled up a photo of SMG4 and the Main cast, but SMG4 and Meggy on the picture were crossed out and on the white part it was written: ”SMG4 = Me” and ”Meggy Spletzer = Namai Ureta”. SMG3 pointed with his fingers as he explains is idea
SMG3: Boopkins, the green turd here, one valentines day made his favorit character, Saiko Bitchitaru, this girl here, come to life from his dating simulator. The computer there is owned by him. He hasn’t used it for years, and I have a hunch that the OTHER girls in that game might be jealous on Saiko!
Namai: Bringing a anime character to life? Did you already forget?
SMG3: Of course not, but if we’re going to have a chance against SMG4 and Meggy, we’re going to need representatives. You have to hold your grudge for now.
Namai(Annoyed): Fine…
Melony put the laptop on a table. She had successfully hacked into the laptop. SMG3 cracked some joints
SMG3: This will be easy…
Spongebob Narrator: 2 Hour Later…
SMG3: This is HOPELESS! The tomboy is too focused on being an athlete, the nerd speaks too much technobabble, the quiet one says nothing and the oblivious one is oblivious!
Namai: They all are based on stereotypes. Which means one is left
SMG3: Yeah, the shy one. Coco Shymura.
SMG3 pressed on the name. An image of said Coco and her stats appeared.
”Coco Shymura” Height: 200 cm Weight: 50 ibs Intelligence: 8/10 Talking: 4/10 Flirt-able: 9/10 Likes: Learning, books, making friend if she can Dislikes: Meanies, loud noises, Positive Skills: Moderate surgery skills, moderate sketching skills Negative Skill: Keeps her jealousy inside of her
Said girl has long brown hair and on top of her head was a black french beanie. She’s wearing a sweatshirt with three different colored stripes, dark grey, light grey and white. She’s wearing shorts long black and brown socks and long legged light brown boots.
SMG3 pressed the date button and the meeting commenced. Coco appeared as a still image of her, looking somewhere else. Clearly not wanting to be here. SMG3 sighed in defeat
SMG3: I’m too tired for this…
He extended to the ”Esc” button, but before he could press it, a text box appeared.
”Coco Shymura” ”Its about Saiko, isn’t it?”
SMG3 looked at her. Has he finally found a jackpot? He typed in and pressed enter
”Player” ”Yes. I’m looking for people for my crew to defeat SMG4 and his friends. One of them is your Saiko Bitchitaru”
”Coco Shymura” ”Then I’d like to join you”
”Player” ”Why thought? Are you jealous on her?”
”Coco Shymura” ”Yes. She was never ment to become normal. She was programmed to be the character that takes over the game. Killing everyone so the player could only date her, because she is a psychopath!”
”Coco Shymura, continued” ”Not only was she brought to life by an simp, but she got friends! Real friends!! She’s the psycho! She shouldn’t be! My reasons might be petty, but it’s all I got”
SMG3: All I needed to hear.
He went for the wand and stood far away
SMG3: Abra Ka- MAKE THE WAIFU COME TO LIFE!
A magic bolt was sent flying to the laptop. It hit and a few seconds later. Coco Shymura was now in the real world! She made an unsure smile
Coco: Th-thank you. I’m Coco Shymura. Nice to meet you all
She bowed.
SMG3: I’m SMG3, the leader! This is Melony, our hacker
She waved to Coco
SMG3: And this is Namai Ureta, our Meggy. Welcome to the Anti-Cast, Coco Shymura, our Saiko Bitchitaru.
Coco looked to Namai, who had her arms crossed. Coco realized
Coco: It’s about the Anime War, isn’t?
Namai: How… how do you know?
The game is connected to the laptop’s processor, we can get to news articles. Like the one where an lizard kidnapped and killed inklings for his own gains.
Coco walked to Namai, she sat down on her knees and grabbed both of Namai’s hands gentle, but the cyan haired girl was still confused and taken aback by it
Coco: I’m sorry for what happened to your sister, I can’t speak to all anime but… I don’t want bad blood be between us.
Namai: … Well… I guess I could give you a chance, we’re going to be a team after all
Both smiled a little to each other. Then suddenly, Melony hugged them. The cyan and brown girl was taken aback, but decided to hug back. SMG3 crossed Saiko on the photo and wrote ”Saiko Bitchitaru = Coco Shymura”
SMG3: Alright, devils! Now that we’re trying to get along-
Namai: Wait, did you just call us devils?
SMG3: Yes, because angels would be too obvious. As I was saying, we have a lot more work too to! Let’s hunt for a Mario!
To Be Continued…
Coco is owned by Peachy-Bish/Pimpkins on the bigger Amino (She deleted the original art)

2020.10.27 18:26 Zionuchiha Being a late bloomer is...interesting

DISCLAIMER:
Don't take this as a "I'll be forever alone" post or like I'm whining. If you have any particularly interesting or uncommon advice, tell me, but I've already heard "Work out and get hobbies" literally 100+ times, not here to hear it again, it's pretty obvious anyway, thanks very much.
I'm 17M and it's rare to have girls my age into me. I just so happen to look young and I've a bit of a baby face just like this (Yes, that pensive gentleman in the pics is literally me). I also have somewhat noticeable man-titties, my doctor confirmed it's gynecomastia and I can't do anything about it except let time work its magic. (They're not HUGE, but once you see it you definitely don't unsee it). Combine this with a somewhat high voice and congrats! You've got the formula for hearing What are you, 10?" jokes literally all the time.
I don' think I'm ugly (not on most days at least), as I'm called cute frequently and I can joke about being ugly without people getting uncomfortable. However, the ones who appear to take the most interest tend to be 13, 14, or 15. As you can imagine, there are SEVERAL logistical problems with that.
I've just decided to just wait for my turn to enter the scene, but it can be a bit hard watching my peers all getting action, getting girlfriends, and generally having a good time. Meanwhile I get repeatedly called "cute" while my only experience is long-distance dating. It hurts just a bit sometimes.
Looking at my genetic clock, there's a likely chance that I'll look quite younger than actual age for my literal whole life. Thankfully, that might be good news for 25-50 year old me, but it's gonna be a tough, long wait...
(Sorry if I wasn't consistent or kind of all-over, just airing my thoughts here)
Again, I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts, experiences, discussion, and any unique advice. (Again, NOT "Just work out and be confident bro")

2020.10.27 17:42 WhatMyHeartHeld Game Notes Week 7

O-LINE KEEPS KYLER CLEAN ON SUNDAY NIGHT

Despite 48 pass attempts on Sunday, Kyler Murray was not sacked once by Seattle. The Seahawks did not register a single QB hit in Sunday’s game.
Sunday’s game marked the first time since 12/23/07 (Kurt Warner at QB – 52 pass attempts) that the Cardinals allowed no sacks in a game they had at least 45 pass attempts.
• Below is a look at what the Cardinals have been able to accomplish in both the run game and passing game this season behind the offensive line.

Keeping Kyler Clean in the Passing Game

QB Kyler Murray has been well-protected behind the line of scrimmage this season. Through 6 games in 2020, the Cardinals rank:
• 8th in the NFL in sacks allowed (9)
• t-5th in the NFL in total QB pressures (37)
• 3rd in the NFL in sack percentage (3.4)
• 2nd in the NFL in sack yardage (38)

Helping the Run Game Succeed

The Cardinals have one of the NFL's top run games in 2020. Arizona ranks:
• 3rd in runs of 20+ yards (10)
• 3rd in rushing average (5.21)
• 2nd in rushing yards per game (160.7)
• 2nd in runs of 10+ yards (33)
• t-1st in rushing TDs (12)
• 1st in rushing average before contact (4.30)
• With the win on Sunday, the Cardinals improved to 6-3 over the last two seasons 92019-20) in games they allow one sack or fewer. Arizona has won three such games in a row. The Cardinals are 3-0 during that stretch when they don’t allow a sack.

HOPKINS GOES FOR 100+ FOR FOURTH TIME THIS SEASON

Baker’s 59 tackles lead all NFL DBs in 2020, despite him having played fewer games than any other player in the top-5 on the list.

2020.10.27 17:21 passaggrefem Signs of a fuckboy or emotionally unavailable?

He is 24, just out of undergrad. Just so I have some confirmation, besides my friends.
I am just a fwb with him. Clearly I have poor choice in men, and attached to him, thus asking.
Tl;dr Is it worth risking my health and time with this guy considering his background

2020.10.27 17:08 Ok_Issue_9170 AITA for being mad at my(26f) boyfriend(28f) for paying off his sister’s student loans

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for 2.5 years now. Recently his little sister graduated from college and got a great job. As a gift he decided to pay off all her student loans - around like 65k. His little sister already had a lot of help from his parents and is going into a lucrative career field, she could’ve paid it off easily within a year or two and still had a decent chunk of money left over.
My boyfriend knows I’ve been struggling with student loans for the last couple of years. I graduated with 95k in student loans and I make about 50k a year but between rent, my car, etc.. I still have so much left to pay. I’ve held off on getting a masters because of this debt. My boyfriend makes almost three times as much as me but we’ve always split bills 50/50. I was fine with that but hearing that he paid all this money for his sister while knowing that I’ve been struggling because of my student loans is like a slap in the face, we’ve been together for almost 3 years now. We got in a huge fight over it and he said his sisters been in his life for more than 20 years and they’re really close, plus he’s free to do whatever he wants his money. I ended up leaving our apartment to go stay with my parents for a bit. His sister found out through one of my friends the reason why I left and she’s told her entire family about it. His family has blocked me from social media and I wasn’t invited to their Thanksgiving this year. AITA?
Edit: When my boyfriend and I moved in together a year ago he knew what I was paying in rent when I lived with a roomate and suggested we look for places twice that so that we could split rent and everything equally. It kind of sucks that we could get a much nicer place like some of his work friends if we were to split equitably, but 50/50 split was one thing he was unwilling to budge on. We're both childfree and he says he wants to keep our finances separate even after marriage.

2020.10.27 17:03 Popular_End_9113 Please help me help my mother with her divorce from my abusive father. (Tx)

Please excuse any errors, we are desperate at this point. Basically, my mother (52) has filed for divorce from my father (56) married for over 30 years due to domestic violence. The police was called at the time of the incident and charges are being pressed. Shortly after, my mother found an attorney and filed for divorce. After the first court date which mandates the temporary orders my mothers lawyer convinced her to agree for him (a violent man) to continue living in the guest house. Since, he has continued to violate the temporary court orders by continuing to approach my mother when he finds her alone in our patio and even found out he has been secretly recording her from inside the guest house when she steps outside. For perspective, the guest home is about 20ft away from the main home. Furthermore, he is on camera unlocking the security door of the main house by reaching his hand through a small opening and turning the lock he then attempts to open the front door before loudly knocking to inform us that we had company.
My mother does not speak much English and is in her 50s and she was never allowed to work or go back to school by my father. He has been emotionally abusive towards her as well as the rest of the family for as long as we can remember even shoving me multiple times when he is upset at my mother. It is rather difficult for my mother to find a job at this point in her life with no work experience especially during this pandemic. My mother has video evidence of him assaulting her where he smack the phone out of her hand and then attempting to strangle her in front of my young nieces, nephew and older sister who stopped him from being able to wrap his arms around her neck. He later admitted to me that the only reason he didn't kill my mother is because he didn't want to otherwise no one could stop him from doing so.
My mother's lawyer has unfortunately handled this case with complete and utter disregard and negligence. We sent this evidence to the lawyer months ago but she failed to review any of it until I called her office yesterday and asked for information on the mediation hearing that was supposed to take place today. The lawyer returned my call late at night and said she hadn't seen any of the evidence a mere 12 hours before the hearing! I was completely irate and had to walk her through the steps in how to download a video from her email! My mother wants to keep the house as well as receive temporary spousal support from my father who makes a good living and has over 25,000 dollars in cash that he keeps with him at all times. There is a mortgage in the home which my father has paid all along. Like I said, my mother wants to keep the house more than anything and I (m23) live with her and would of course help her pay for the expenses of the home. Any advice on how to make this possible? Thank you in advance!

2020.10.27 16:58 Goofasaur My GF’s Mother is adamant that I’m trying to leech off her daughter.

Hi Relationship Advice, I never thought I’d be personally but here we are. It’s late and I’m quite nervous as of now so please forgive any spelling or grammar errors, thank you.
To give some backstory, my girlfriend (21F) and I (20M) have been dating for roughly 2 year now. We met at our university and started dating not long after. We supported each other both emotionally and academically as much as we could. We would frequently spend time at each others apartments for fairly lengthy periods of time and I think that’s where the problem started. You see, we both were studying away from home and we each come from different social classes; She’s from an upper middle and I’d barely scrape lower middle if it wasn’t for my benefits. I’m diagnosed with both ASD and depression which makes it difficult for me to interact socially and makes it hard to focus a lot, especially while studying(This will be important later) and due to this, I’m on a pension that gives me enough money to pay rent, bills and any other necessities as well as a bit extra. GF is undiagnosed but after spending as much time as I have with her, she has many of the same traits as I do, in some cases they’re even stronger. As we spent so much time at each other’s apartments, we would eat through our food at double the normal rate, thus we would go out to eat and buy groceries frequently . I usually would put aside $50(AUD) from my fortnightly pay for food but now that I had to account for a second person, GF would buy food more often than I would as I would run out faster. The problem here you see is that GF wasn’t in charge of her own bank account as it was and still is, overseen by her mother. GFM would always get mad at her whenever she saw a transaction that involved eating out more than once a week or more grocery trips, she would flip at GF and always assume that I’m asking her to pay for me every time. GF eventually ran out of her savings from before her time at Uni so her mother started sending her own money until she finished Uni a little into this year. Naturally, we would try and limit spending as best as we could from that point as to not be nuisances and leech.
GF started Uni a year before me and graduated while I’m still enrolled. Because of this, she moved back up with her parents on the other side of the state and we pretty much talk daily. The separation hasn’t effected how we feel about each other in the slightest and we have a long term plan to each build up our savings and move in together within the next few years. In our time separated, GF struggled for most of the year to find a job and a few months ago, got a job at McDonald’s and had started to earn good money and build back up her savings. Things haven’t gone so well for me here as I’m unemployed but still searching for a job I could do that wouldn’t effect my studies. Most open jobs in the city I’m in seem to be manager positions or require specific qualifications. GFM seems to be under the impression that I’m not trying hard enough and should apply everywhere, regardless of whether i’m qualified or not or whether I would work with my Uni schedule. Trying to explain why I can’t falls on deaf ears with her and I simply get called lazy. Its no secret that she doesn’t understand how hard it is to get an entry level job in the city as both GF and I were looking for jobs here the whole time and we’ve only gotten 1 interview each during our time here. It’s become pretty evident that GFM believes I’m a Dole-Bludger (Australian term for someone who’d rather live off of benefits than get a job) and thinks I’m trying to get GF to pay for me in some way. I don’t blame her to an extent as the area they live in is full of people like that, but the way she just assumes that because I don’t have a job and that I’m trying to mooch off of the government really demoralises me. Before I continue I’d like to clarify that I have not once asked for GF to buy me anything, if I wanted to buy something I’d pay for it myself, even if that wasn’t the best choice for me financially. Of course any financial problems I get are mine and mine alone. GF knows this and for that very reason would also never send me money, exactly as it should be.
The thing that prompted me to finally write this here is something that happened a few days ago. As GF has been earning more than usual thanks to longer shifts and has been curious about her savings. As GFM still oversees and manages GF’s bank account, she of course asked her. GFM refused because somehow she’s under the impression that GF wants to spend it all recklessly(Something she’s never done to my knowledge) and spend it on me. I don’t believe she knows that I know how she thinks and talks about me but personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if she knew. By now I’m used to feeling like dog shit she’d scrap off her shoe but now knowing that she’s convinced I’m some Gigolo has made my depression that much worse.
I’d like to confront her about it somehow but I lack the courage to do so as I don’t want it to affect my relationship with GF. It’s gotten bad enough that even an event we’ve had planned for over a year now that GFM didn’t know about and has to be cancelled because GF is to afraid to ask GFM about it and breaks into tears just thinking about asking. We have plans for me to travel over to them for GF’s birthday but I don’t even think I’ll be welcome there if this isn’t resolved.
This is becoming such a huge problem for the both of us and we don’t know how much longer this can go on. To any of you who help, what can we do? Is there an option we’ve missed somewhere down the line? We’re getting pretty desperate.
Note: Sorry for the walls of text or if I explained anything badly, I’m happy to clarify anything in the comments.

2020.10.27 15:53 bobsmithcrabs On the cusp of almost going nuclear

I'm not in a good state of mind right now. I'm too cheap to pay for cable (have an antenna with crappy reception) so youtube is my source of entertainment for hours a day. I also spend a lot of time and effort into trying to find a date online. All of that combined with me being a loner, introvert, hermit, and anti-social has made me feel down in the dumps. The ideal me would not wake up and automatically turn the PC on and waste hours upon hours each day looking at stupid videos and wasting time trying to meet someone in the virtual world.
I want the future me to be excited about life, have goals and passions, do things outside, and form friendships and ultimately a relationship. I also want to be productive and feel good both mentally and physically.
I don't feel like I have the discipline to keep my ISP and greatly reduce my internet. However, I don't feel it is realistic to be without internet. It is nice being able to buy things, pay bills, learn, get my work schedule, etc.
So, I want to keep my mobile data and cancel my ISP. I'm debating on what data plan to use:
500mb/month *mobile data shuts off after data limit is hit [Cost $10/mo]
1 GB/ month *mobile data shuts off after data limit is hit [Cost $15/mo]
7 GB/ month *speeds reduced after data limit is hit [Cost $17.50/mo but have pay for a year]

The 7 GB is the best value but I am a cheapskate and I really want to limit my internet usage so... I am considering the 1 GB plan but it is scary being without internet!

My plan going forward looks like this:
Replace my youtube addiction with trying to learn spanish. I also want to join a gym and lift weights.
Do yoga each morning instead of turning on the computer first thing
Once a week- explore a new area/ do something fun
Try to be friendlier with strangers

Use internet for:
Paying bills, checking work schedule, weather, gps, when I need to quickly look something up (What movies are playing for example). No online dating, no youtube when at home. Can briefly watch youtube when connected to wi-fi. I am only watching videos from one channel and only 1-4 videos come out each month with an average time of 20 minutes per video. I enjoy watching the videos from "Bedtime stories"

I fear that without the internet and without friends; I may just replace my internet with other habits like excessive book reading or playing video games. I really need to make progress and not replace one bad habit with another one.
Feel free to comment :)!

2020.10.27 12:26 Icy_Tradition I'm slowly but surely getting over my attraction to white dudes...

Lets get one point straight:

I have understood that liking white celebs majority of the time doesn't and shouldn't translate that I'd like them in real life.
In real life they are jackasses, smug, weird, rude, nasty, mean, not sufficient to my daily life and just bleh, plus they are not even that cute once I took off my rose colored glasses and separated them from the celebs that I crushed on.
They're high expectations toward me versus their own body/face/career etc is very disgusting and convoluted as fuck. I have gotten sick of the times where I'm looking great and I notice one of them trying to make snide jokes about me with their druggie looking wives (no matter the race), and they're skinny fat shaped or fat with clear balding spots or bags under the eyes. It's the irritancies of them always trying to knock me down pegs that have always annoyed me about them. I could be in a room filled with other women, no matter the shape or attractiveness and it's as if they pick at me and are so negative. My quiet demeanor seems to attract the weirdest and the rudest. Any misunderstanding of their own accord is somehow flipped to make me look unintelligent or disorganized. Their lack of self awareness and the tendency to not want to admit their wrong doings is also extremely unattractive and disgusting.

I usually don't like their character and I always had to find qualities about them to not make my crushes on them look completely nuts. It caused me an unhealthy obsession with living in my head and playing up scenarios.
I don't like their black or white outlook on racial aspects/phenotypes and gender opinions.
I don't like their chad bro/frat bro exterior that I keep coming across, it makes it hard for me to relate to them. Hardly any of my interactions with them were enjoyable. I spent half of my life thinking if I fixed things about myself then maybe the experiences would change, then I realized how dumb, insecure and desperate I looked. I spent some time thinking why I made them such an important thing on my dating life.

I also realized that there was a partial majority of this preference that was due to my father and our lack of a relationship. Somehow, somewhere down the line I started to convince myself that a way to avoid the trauma and heartbreak I went through with my father, was by crushing on something entirely different from the way my father looked. His careless demeanor towards me, stuck up attitude, snobby , shallowness , and standoffish behavior was something I had experienced by him and some other black men. They didn't want me to smile. I could barely be taken seriously. It was if me speaking had irritated them, or even me existing in their space but then, I met some good ones. The friendly ones, the kind who actually handed me 5 bucks to fill my gas tank when I was stood up for a job interview and used up most of my gas.

All of the negative attributes I aligned with my father and other black men is something I experienced with white men by 10x over. The unneeded opinions. Back handed compliments, awkward conversations, madonna/whore complexes, flippant behavior . Some times I found myself wondering if I should say thanks and leave it at that or told them to shut the fuck up and mind their business. The encounters of them talking to me as if I were a criminal and the verbal manhandling was staggering. Interactions that should've went smoothly sometimes made me feel like I were being threatened.

When I see men that look like my father, I'm not repulsed, but a part of me removes any and all attraction to them at the flick of the wrist, it's so automatic. I can't think of them in any sexual manner. I don't think of them as being the father of my possible kids, or my possible husband or a boyfriend that I could want. And it's not even the black men entirely but more like skin color. My father was dark and therefore I don't make them or want them as anything more. I don't think they are ugly or anything. I don't attach insane stereotypes to them but they look like my father and the men who I have witnessed to abuse women who look like me in my family. I don't try hard to not be unattracted to them, it just doesn't happen, no spark.

Attraction wise, I still have a bit of work to do. I would still prefer to look at one over the other. Aesthetically, the attraction is still there, but internally, I wouldn't hold my breath. The way the universe works is funny. I feel like half of my life was dedicated to showing me 50-11 reasons why I shouldn't have looked at them.

2020.10.27 09:16 OnlyShortFaces Demoralized and a Short Story of a Nontraditional Premed

Hello everyone, I’ve been lurking on this sub for some time now and needed some outside input on my situation because I have no premed friends. It would be nice to have peers that understand what I’m going through a bit.
To give some context, I dropped out of high school for my GED due to anxiety/depression and chronic headaches, more of the former. This was sophomore year, and took a year of trying online school to eventually give up and drop out entirely. After this I spent the next 2 years basically playing video games with my online friends (still my main friend group, have talked to them for 7 years now). During this time I came into my own a little bit and found motivation to try school again. This is when I finished my GED (I was 18) and I applied to community college with the intent to be a physical therapy assistant. I started off part time and worked as a delivery driver to fill the rest of my time. I did really well for a year and a half and started to find more interests in other subjects such as psychology. Since I really enjoyed psych, I decided I wanted to change major to be a therapist. This idea was quickly trumped by the idea of trying to be a psychiatrist in my dream-prone 19 year old head. At this point I had no influence from anyone ever about how to go about this. Even the advisors at my community college didn’t really give me any idea of what to do as a premed. Sadly, this resulted in me going through my first 2 years of premed with 0 extracurriculars. However, I was bringing my AB 3.6 average up to a 3.8 with a few full time semesters of all As. I really enjoyed general chemistry, but didn’t take any other natural science at the CC. Around this time I met my girlfriend. I met her on bumble just out of the blue from just trying to get myself out there. I had never been on a date before, just tried to ask girls out or develop friendships to build my social skills. Even with this being the case, I got really lucky and we hit it off. After about 6 months of dating in strong honeymoon phase, my Gf graduated with a degree to be a teacher. This news brought up the idea for her to move to the Midwest where she is the happiest, as she grew up there. I was stuck with a decision in the middle of a honeymoon phase with my first GF ever to follow her or long distance. It was going super well, and I really didn’t want to long distance so we decided to move together after she found a job. We did research for a month or so to make sure it was feasible and then we had to long distance over the summer while she lived with her parents. (Had to wait for semester to start to teach). To put it short, these 3 months my mental illness got extremely out of hand. I was always in my head thinking about little differences we had or thinking about her looks negatively. These thoughts made me extremely sad as I did really have an attachment to her. It was like my brain had decided everything I thought was a lie and I couldn’t get back to where I was before. (This is a very short description, it’s hard to explain without writing a ton). In the process of this, I decided to still move to follow her, but I would get a roommate near the university I got into. This was a huge risk, I had lived my life in the same home my whole life and with my mental illness struggles I had to fight through a lot of negativity. I did it because I did believe that my relationship was worth it, even if I currently was struggling. Overall, the moving process went well. I found a roommate through the college from India who was going there for a masters. I was happy that I had a roommate who was easy to talk to and supportive. It gave me hope that even if my relationship didn’t work out I would be in a good place in school with a friend. The first 2 semesters were a combination of culture shock and personal growth. Living in a house with a person from a different culture made me really appreciate the fruits of really breaking down stereotypes and understanding a person. In contrast, I felt alone in my classes and I stuck to my gaming friend group as far as other friends go. Also, on the weekends my Gf and I would take turns driving an hour to spend time together. These weekends were split 50/50 of euphoria and sometimes depression and panic as I had confusing feelings of sometimes not being attracted to her. These feelings would make me hurt so deeply because the rest of the relationship was full of great communication and similar interests. I tried my hardest to not share these feelings with her, but I am a very open book with people I’m close with. We approached the situation with patient problem solving and took time to talk over my problems. I still admire her for sticking around during this. I hurt her so many times by mentioning what I negatively thought of her. With many ups and downs, it slowly progressed to being better. I found the roots of my negative thoughts and found they were invalid or based off of ideas that I didn’t believe in fully. This slowly led me to being attracted to her again, and I am able to appreciate what I saw as flaws at my worst. During this time, (first 2 semesters of uni) I kept up a 4 gpa while going through my first 2 biologies and 2 physics, along with other needed prerequisites. I was doing well in my classes but felt the desire to spend more time learning the material after I got my points. I tend to coast through classes and do what it takes to get an A while I spend time with my gaming friends and my Gf. This became problematic when I hit organic chemistry. It was my biggest semester hours wise. I was taking calculus, organic chemistry, anatomy, and Spanish 3. On top of this, over the summer I had been living with my Gf an hour away from the college town and I did NOT want to move again. So.... I decided to commute.... 5 days a week..... for an hour one way.... while taking organic chemistry. This was chaos and I ended up riding the curve of the class and getting a B. I did well on my tests compared to the curve (top 10 in the class of 100) for a while but my homework grades weren’t as good. Even though I did well grade wise I procrastinated all semester, missed classes, and felt really uncomfortable with the material. What really sucks about this whole thing is that I really like organic chemistry. However, this continued into last semester, and with Covid and with the change into online classes, I scraped through with a B again. On the bright side, my relationship was and Is flourishing and only occasionally do I have doubts similar to what I had before. Along with my B I didn’t finish my biochemistry lab or lecture and have until December to complete them (Covid policy at my school). At least I got an A in my other two classes. This brings me to today. I have only volunteered for a month or so of 5 hours a week at a local hospital during last semester and have 0 research experience. I have only shadowed twice. I haven’t taken my MCAT even though I’m one semester from graduating. I plan on taking a gap year to try and get clinical or research experience and prep for the MCAT. (Also, I might try for a postbacc if I still feel uncomfortable.)God I have no idea how I’m going to get clinical experience, and even if I do, idk if it is too late to bolster my application. On top of all of this, I have no premed clubs I’m a part of because I’m tremendously introverted by keeping to my set friend groups. I like to be able to give quality time to each of my close friends. I can mingle and talk to strangers no problem, and I even like people a lot(I better to be a doctor). However, I do not like to go out of my already tight schedule to talk to people I feel like I won’t be able to give my full attention to. So, I have built a wonderful relationship, got closer with my already tight knit friend group, and kept my GPA at a 3.8, but I haven’t done shit for my other application requirements. (My writing is getting more and more disorganized as I go, been typing for so lonnnggg). Other than my ECs, my worst feeling is that of not feeling motivated enough to really study the material and learn it well. Also, I really regret not learning organic well, but the dread of self learning it sends me to panic. Basically, I still plan to grit my way through. I just really need some advice from people who feel the pressure of being a premed. My Gf is supportive but doesn’t fully understand my situation. Anyone else in a similar spot?
If you made it this far thank you for hearing me out. I wish everyone on here the best luck.

2020.10.27 08:02 ZomBee000 56 [M4F] UK (London or M1) - seek young GF for social fun and/or long term relationship

As I've got older, I've decided that there is a lot to be said for being a "dirty old man" with a much younger girlfriend living with me. It's almost as though I'd feel much happier doing something which is naughty and society doesn't approve of.
Anyway I have to move back to London in Novembe early December and I'm looking to find a younger GF who will either visit often or live with me when I have an apartment, and go out with me. Should you live with me, I don't expect you to contribute towards housing or dating costs. How much you do or don't earn doesn't matter, so whether you're an impoverished student, only work part time (or even have a lot of money!) it is fine with me.
Me
You
I already have 3 children, but if you accidentally or deliberately end up pregnant as a result of our activities, I'd be happy about it.

2020.10.27 06:15 Cool-Construction-40 Almost officially over

Court signed judgment, I’ll be officially single at the end of the month. I’m a wreck. Just feel so bleh. Currently signed up for better help. Anyone use this service? What did you think?
I’ve never been to counseling and figure it’d be something that could help. I’m really concerned that the divorce opened up how lonely I am without another person. I feel pulled to setting up dating apps, but logistically (I have kids 50/50) it seems so impossible. I want to but I just can’t get outside myself. Anyway I don’t feel ready for that, but still find myself wanting to. I am confused. Job performance is in the toilet the past year. This therapy might be my last attempt at trying and I hope it helps.
